The heading of today's blog could be confusing. Why? Well, the young lady in this photo is a junior and the young man is a freshman in college. These two sweet hearts are learning what it's like to have miles separating them and still managing to connected. I think most of us can relate to the years of our youth where we struggled with the absence of our best friend/ boyfriend. I know I can. It's never easy, but enjoying the moments you are together are what keeps the heart moving forward and looking towards the next time you get to see that sweet soul so far away.
A little history....Savannah is the daughter of our dearest friends, Laney and Jason. I have enjoyed photographing their family, their annual fundraiser (Allied Advocates Foundation), and Jason's law firm (The Webster Law Firm) for well over 5 years. Savannah is not only breathtaking on the outside, she is beautiful on the inside. I do believe this inner beauty has every bit to do with her faith and incredible confidence. Whether she is playing her favorite sports or getting dolled up for an event, she exudes beauty. I am probably biased, but honestly, if you met her you would completely agree.
Laney asked me to take a homecoming photos of Savannah and her boyfriend Cort. Disclaimer-This would be the first time I met the cowboy that stole Savannah's heart. So I don't know him, but after the session....WOW! What a wonderful young man. Cort plays football for Mary Hardin Baylor and is just a complete joy to be around. When he showed up at the door with roses and a cowboy hat, my photographer heart melted! ha! ha! Cort, continue to let that light shine bright-you are great example of what a gentleman should be.
Our setting--well, Laney and Jason recently fulfilled a dream and built a beautiful home with a little acreage. On this land would sit a beautiful moss-filled tree where Savannah and Cort built a swing. I wish I could take credit for it hanging in the perfect spot for backlight...but it is a photographer's dream! Jason-the next law firm photos will take place in front of the swing! ha! ha! When Cort showed up with the flowers, it came to me that the flowers and swing would make for a perfect backdrop to share their love story. Now, Cort's love for Texas and his truck were an awesome addition...so we played with those backdrops too....these two were up for fun and creating images that would demonstrate this special time in their lives.
Sorry for the long blog...but it's a story worth telling and because I love this family so much, I just had to share. Enjoy! -Nikki
